The onset of morning sickness for most women is the first indication of their pregnancy. What specifically causes morning sickness is unknown. There are two popular theories behind the onset of morning sickness. Some researchers have suggested that morning sickness is a result of the chemical changes within the mother’s body as she makes adjustments to protect the growing baby. While other researchers believe a low blood sugar is the culprit.

The radical hormonal changes that take place to compensate for the baby is thought to be the cause for the nausea and vomiting associated with pregnancy. The levels of estrogen and progesterone begin to ascend at unbelievable rates. Both hormones are involved with the development of the reproductive system.

Embryological studies suggest that the enzymes responsible for helping the fetus and placenta attach to the wall of the uterus may be the cause for the nausea and vomiting. An enormous amount of energy is required as the bond between mother and baby is established with the connection of the placenta; this is believed to cause a drop in blood sugar. The link between nausea and low blood sugar has been established with studies dealing with diabetes.

The two methods currently believed to resolve the nausea associated with morning sickness is by controlling diet and acupressure. For more information visit Morning Sickness Remedies.com.
